What exactly is Pilates and how can it benefit me?
Pilates is a Mind & Body focused form of fitness, each session can be tailored to an individuals given day. For example, if a client's back is bothering them more so than usual on the day of their session, the session can be focused on that particular stress point. That's the beauty of Private Pilates Sessions, everything is personalized. This makes Pilates great for injury prevention. As a comprehensive classical Pilates Instructor, Dana is certified in every piece of Pilates equipment. The client will be working on many different pieces of equipment to get the best Pilates training out of their sessions. Training on multiple pieces of Pilates equipment will ensure the client has all the tools they need to advance in their training.
“Not only is health a normal condition, but it is our duty to not only to attain it but to maintain it.” -Joseph Pilates
Joseph Pilates believed that although we start life in good physical and emotional shape, modern life has a way of eroding our health.
It is vital, he believed, that we address questions of posture and breathing in order to halt – and even reverse – that decline.
What should I expect during my first session?
The first session will be used to evaluate where the client is at fitness-wise, what we need to work on, and what strengths we can emphasize. From then on, all other sessions will be customized and planned for that specific client to their needs. Pilates group classes are a "one-size-fits-all" way of teaching, which does not accommodate a client's individual needs. Private Pilates Sessions or Semi-Private Sessions are the best way to receive all the benefits Pilates has to offer.
Pilates is different for everyone, some people are sore after Pilates, some only feel a light soreness. It depends on the person. However, you should always feel good after your session! Your body should feel rejuvenated and ready to take on the day. You should never feel overworked. Pilates is an exercise that will keep your body looking lean. It's not about how much "weight" you can do, Pilates is all about the quality of movement and your form while executing the exercises.
Just after a few sessions, you'll be more conscientious of your posture and how you move on a daily basis. Everything a client learns in their Pilates Sessions can be applied to everyday life.
Pilates can compliment any current workout regimen or can work as a stand-alone workout regimen. Pilates helps to enhance your daily life by not just improving your overall strength, but also your balance, coordination, mobility, flexibility, and posture.
